Error or warning message text does not show in MATLAB
Show older comments
I am using 64bit MATLAB R2015a on Ubuntu 14.04 machine. I have a problem that the text in error or warning message is not shown in the editor, although the pop up block shows up. As you can see in this screenshot.

I did not have this problem when I used MATLAB R2012b on the same machine.

This could be an issue if you have a dual monitor setup running Ubuntu. If you are using dual monitors, try using the Editor on the left hand side monitor and see if that fixes it.
If it is feasible to do so, you can also try turning off Unity, Ubuntu's default desktop management software.

Using the editor on the left-side monitor worked for me to solve this issue. Thanks!

I'm using RHEL 6.4, KDE Desktop, 2 monitors, but it doesn't matter which monitor I use, I can't see the pop-up text.

Jay St. Pierre: did you try turning off Unity?

Walter Roberson: I am not using Unity, I am using the KDE Desktop.

The workarounds in the referenced bug report did not work for me.
However, this https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=197071 does describe a workaround that worked for me:
KDE Desktop Settings: Appearance -> Colors -> Options: Disable "Apply colors to non-QT-applications"
