How might I create a colormap image of matrix x,y(log scale),z?

How might I do un image of this type?
I need to do an image with a colormap, where x axis represents time, y axis represents particle dimensions in log10 scale and colorbar is the z intensity (the number of particles). Thank you very much.

You may find contourf useful. Also, log scale can be selected from axes properties.

In Matlab 2014b and later colorbar is no longer an axis, it's its own class and thus doesn't allow set(gca,'Yscale','log') since that's an axes property.

There is no built-in way to do this (information current as of R2016a). You will need to go back to the old technique of getting the current colormap, creating an axes and putting an image it in, setting the colormap, and labeling the axes as appropriate. You might want to adapt some of the code in http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/1135-colorbarf
(I created a tool that dug through all of the hidden properties, and located all of the YScale and YScale_I parameters. They all either affect the drawing axes itself, or else changing them has no effect (reads back as linear again immediately.)
