Matlab will not start on Ubuntu 14.04

1 view (last 30 days)
Hello,
I have Matlab R2015b installed on Ubuntu 14.04. When I start Matlab using the file "Matlab" in the Matlab root/bin folder, the start window appears for a few seconds and closes again and then nothing happens.
I have another Matlab version installed parallel (R2014a), that I would prefer to not uninstall.
Things i've tried:
  • sudo chown jeroen:jeroen /home/jeroen/.matlab/R2015b
  • matlab-support always rus the R2014a-Version
  • options like "matlab -nodesktop" always run the R2014a, too
Would be nice to get some help.
Best regards,
Jeroen

You should contact Mathworks for free support on installation problems.

The Mathworks-support helped very well.
I can start Matlab using the command
./matlab
inside the directory
$matlabroot/R2015b/bin
This works quite fine for me.
