TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) Compression

9 views (last 30 days)
Hi,
i'm using
imwrite(my_img, fullfile(Path,Name), 'tif','Compression','none');
to save my image and i want to compress it too. I know there are different ways for tiffs to compress them but which one to choose? Only lossless is an option for me but still i don't know how to based on which criterion i can judge between the methods. Also i cannot understand why my files are getting bigger with the 'LZW' compression than with no compression.
Thanks for your help.
Greetings

The criterion for compression is obviously file size. The amount of reduction that can be achieved by the various methods depends on the data in the image. So the only way to find out which compression reduces your images most is to run various methods on a representative sample of your images.
