Exporting MATLAB Figures to Adobe Illustrator

Hello,
I would like to know why eps files generated by MATLAB are interpreted differently by Adobe Illustrator depending upon the original type of plot used in MATLAB. For instance, when I generate a plot using "pcolor" in MATLAB and export it as an eps file, illustrator has no problem reading it and does not modify any of the text upon importing. However, when I make a plot with "plot," export it as eps and subsequently import into illustrator, illustrator will modify all the text. Does anyone know why this occurs and how to remedy this issue? I don't want illustrator to modify any of the text. The only reason I import the figures into illustrator is to add labels, more annotation and to group several plots. By the way, I use the "print" command to generate all of the plots.
Thanks,
Michael

Is there an answer for this problem? I tried all file formats on "save as" none of them worked.
