Tab completion produces no filenames (Mac OS)

Hi, I'm using MATLAB on a lab Mac. Tab completion doesn't offer any filenames when used as argument in, say, imread or dicomread. Is there a way to turn it on? Thanks.

I disagree with Laurens -- tab completion does work in many situations when a function is known to expect a filename as input. And it works, for me at least, in R2011b on my Mac. Try:
!touch junk.jpg
imread('f
Press 'tab' after typing 'f'. MATLAB should autocomplete to foo.jpg (and possibly others too depending on what is on your path). If this does not work, please tells us more about your configuration (MATLAB release, OS X release, type of file system, etc.).

Is there anyway to program this behavior in my own functions? I'd like to be to issue:
<code>
myread('f
</code>
and then hit tab to see 'foo.jpg'

Hi Eric,
There is no tab completion on strings because they are literals. MATLAB does not know that the string you are typing is a file name or path. Perhaps this will change in a future release...
Cheers,
Laurens
