Looking for layers outside the WMS Database.......what about 'time' attribute??

I need to create a WMService with a server which apparently is not on the WMS Database, but the problem is that in Layer.Details.Dimension the attribute Name is blank (' ') and it is expected to appear 'time'. The consequence is that I am not able to set it, as it's an only-read document. The question is .... How can I get then the desirable layers (as far as spatial extent is concerned) from this server??
