Why is MATLAB officially written with capitalized letters?

The name is short for "Matrix Laboratory", and I therefore find "MatLab" to be the logical choice of capitalizing.

I usually write it MATLAb for teasing people with OCD .. and I invariably end up correcting it frantically a few minutes later so I can restart breathing .. as the World is finally stable again, ordered, and parallel like my pencils ...

MATLAB was styled on FORTRAN in the late 1970s. FORTRAN was not renamed to Fortran until 1990.

It is simply a question of taste. The MathWorks decided to print it in capitals.
