I would like to create a mesh for a cylinder of radius R and length L that consists of:
- a fine triangular mesh for the 2D circular cross section
- a coarse rectangular mesh for the side.
So, in the end I want a mesh made of triangular prisms.
How can I create this using MATLAB (2016b)? I can only get a triangular mesh, and also I cannot make it coarse in one direction. Please, help.

YOu can mesh a cylinder using below code: https://in.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/34143-meshing-thin-shells-using-four-noded-elements
YOu can convert the cylindrical mesh to triangular using: https://in.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/63630-convert-qua4-fem-mesh-to-tri3-fem-mesh
