Why does Simulink shut down my computer and what can I do about it?

11 views (last 30 days)
I use MatlabR2016a on Windows 10 and installed the Simulink Desktop Real-Time Kernel following the instructions here: https://se.mathworks.com/help/sldrt/ug/real-time-windows-target-kernel.html#f19853
Ever since, when I run the simulation in Simulink, the computer gets shut down (actually: restarted) without any warning, all my other processes are killed. I have never experienced a similar issue with Matlab/Simulink before. I tried restarting and reinstalling several times, the problem is still the same. Thanks for any hints!

Hi,
The above issue is a known bug and has been fixed in MATLAB R2017b update 5.You can install the update 5 from the below link:
Or if you want to use the older versions of MATLAB, you can install the required patches. The following bug report provides the patch for R2016b and R2017a. You can try the patches from below link on the computers having these releases and Windows 10.

I have the same problem!!!!! We need a SOLUTION!!!!! I didn't have this problem before! I had the trial version for the Simulink Desktop Real Time (2015 Version), and the system would run per but few weeks ago the school purchased the 2017 version, and when I try to run the model with a SLDRT block the computer shuts down (Restart) automatically. I already checked that I have all the software requirements and that my card is recognized by the model.

For now, I found a way to avoid the real time block, but of course this problem should be fixed. Since there are so many people experiencing the same issue, it seems like this is a fundamental problem.

Please double the capacity of your RAM because you current RAM capacity being managed my simulation data which is exceeding to its capacity, therefore it increases the temperature of RAM which in turn shutting down the windows automatically.
