True axis position with square DataAspectRatio

Hi,

I'd like to place axes directly below and next to a squared axis, but cannot get the actual position of that axis. get(gca, 'Position') always gives the same result regardless of the DataAspectRatio:

imagesc(rand(10))
get(gca, 'Position')
set(gca, 'DataAspectRatio', [1, 1, 1]) % idential to "axis square"
get(gca, 'Position')

How do I determine the real position of the axis? Thanks for any hints on this issue.
