How to publish MATLAB plots as graphs (including data points), and not just snapshots of the plot ?

I am publishing the results of a Matlab plot in a doc file. Instead of just the snapshot of the plot, I want the plot to contain the data points embedded in it (like when you borrow a graph from Excel to Word).

I want to 'publish' the results (running the program with the 'Publish' button, not the run button). 'Saveas' saves the individual graphs and not in a document. The 'Publish' option auto-creates a doc/pdf file with all the graphs, but these graphs are images, not actual graphs. I want these graphs as actual graphs containing all data points (just like when a graph is copied from Excel to Word all data points are retained).

You might want to save the graphs to a vectorialized file (such as .eps), this allows you to keep the information regarding single data points.
