I want to do the image segmentation of a knee joint could you please guide which technique is most accurate. and also should I choose Pixel based segmentation or geometry based segmentation please share some details of the technique which is most accurate.

I did my PhD on segmentation of the knee joint and used multiresolution texture. However, this will depend on YOUR data, I used T1, T2 MRI, if you have a different data, it may not apply. Have a look at these papers:
