3D volume visualisation with the use of image gradient for Stacked 2D images

Hello Everyone,
Gradient magnitude can give us only edge information on the same plane. What if we have 3D Z-stacked images and we want to find edge information other than XY- plane?
I think, Gx and Gy gradients will give edge information in vertical and horizontal directions respectively. Gz for Z-stacked image will give information on Textural difference only.
Main question: What if we want to use Gx, Gy and Gz gradients to plot edges in 3D environment in order to visualize the whole volume?
Please find the link which I was referring below:
Thanking you in anticipation.
