Why this code does not save .txt file as .text file inside the matlab?

I am using appdesinger to design app that improt .txt files and save it but the code save it inside matlab in form of matlab.mat as showen in the figure but I want it to be save as .txt file.

            [filename,pathname] = uigetfile({'*.txt'},'File Selector');
            app.WordFileEditField.Value = strcat(pathname,filename);
            save();

It sounds like you need to read the documentation for save. Also, if you want it in a .mat, why would you confuse everyone by have the extention be .txt?

No I want it to be save in .txt form because this is the real form for the import it file.And how I do read to the documentation for save?could you write the code for me please?
