Public Functions/Properties in App Designer

Hello,

I have a really common question because I'm relativly new to programming in MATLAB.

In the App Designer you can choose between Public and Private Functions and Properties. The description of the App Designer says that Public Functions and Properties can be shared between apps.

I have two questions about that:

First of all, how can I access theese Functions and Properties from outside the app?

And is it possible to access these Functions and Properties from a Simulink Function Block while the App is running?
