Can't start Matlab

I cannot start Matlab. None of the solutions I've seen online work or are appropriate. Maybe I just haven't seen the right thread.
When I try to start Matlab, I get the error:
Error 1,002: The e-mail address you entered is associated with a non-student MathWorks account and may not be reused for student purchases. ...( and a bunch of other crap)
First, this is the SAME email I used to purchase the product in the first place, so that message is crap. Then when I log into their site with that email address, it tells me I'm not associated with a license.
When I ordered I received an order # and a serial number, but NOT a license #. Tech support requires a license #, so I can't even contact tech support!!
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Of course you can contact the technical support. Simply write an email: support(AT)mathworks(DOT)com.
The TMW support is smart and handles such problems, which do not match in the standard scheme also. ALthough they prefer to get a serial number, they will not reject a question which concerns the fact, that you did not get one yet.
