Matlab ToolTip Doesn't Dissapear

Hello,
I am using Matlab R2018b on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
I am experiencing an issue with pop-up windows that do not close.
This most frequently occurs when I am typing a function and the tooltip/datatip window appears. This window will occasionally freeze on my screen, or be replaced by a transparent box. I am not able to move these persistent windows, and their presence occuldes my Editor/Command window. The only way to remove these windows is to restart Matlab, which is a big waste of time.
Is there a solution for this?
Thanks

Hello,
There is a way other than restarting Matlab, if you hover on the same exact variable from the same exact file which caused the tooltip/ datatip to pop up, most likely the tooltip / datatip closes.

This is a different problem. When typing a function name in the command or edit window, a tooltip pops-up. This occasionally gets stuck and cannot be deleted. The datatips solution does not work for this bug.

Found a solution here:
Not sure why the fix needs to be in a "content obscured" p-file. Seems a bit dicey to me, but it's from Matlab's Official Bug Report site, so hopefully its safe.
