MATLAB Coder is the product. There are a fair number of parts of MATLAB that cannot be converted to C, however.
Note: MATLAB Coder is not available at all for Student Version licenses of MATLAB. For Academic and Commercial license versions of MATLAB, MATLAB Coder is an optional (and relatively expensive) toolbox.
There is also MATLAB Compiler, which is a different product. MATLAB Compiler is also not available at all for Student Version. MATLAB Compiler is for converting .m into executables and libraries. The resulting executable is effectively a MATLAB engine in itself. Many parts of MATLAB can be converted via the MATLAB Compiler, but not everything. The performance of .m processed through MATLAB Compiler is almost exactly the same as running the files through MATLAB. This is not something you would use for performance improvements: it is something you use for bundling .m projects into one piece.

No, MATLAB Compiler cannot generate standalone C code. You need MATLAB Coder to generate standalone C code from MATLAB code.
