Can I use this formula??

To find the distance between camera and object in mm I can use this formula???
Distance between camera and object=focal length-(focal length/magnification)

Knowing the dermatoscope context for this question, I have to ask what certainty you have that you know the focal length. The device you originally indicated was only 6x magnification and had no digital imaging capability, but you had indicated 10x magnification as being used. And later you had a second set of images with a completely different image size, which would tend to suggest that a minimum of two different devices are being used.
Yeah, I pretty much gave up. Our earlier explanations and discussions never seemed to sink in, and we seemed to be going nowhere but in circles.

Now I'm working with a device with a magnification of 10* and a focal length of 35 mm. To find the working distance can i do this: 35-(35/10)=31.5
