save the change to a variable in a function

In my project, I need to use some functions periodicly. But I found that even the value of a variable is changed in the first function, the second function still can't use the new value, how can I solve the problem if I don't want to use global?

What variables are not changing? You need to give more details.
except for w&p, all the variables are changed in the functions
If you use function, you need to return the variable that are changed. Then assign the outputs of the function. For example
if true
[A,B,C] = functionone(A,B,C,D,E);
[C,D,X] = functiontwo(A,B,C);
end
