Implementing Existing C++ code in Simulink

I have a model which was developed by a colleague of mine in C++ and to avoid the risk of making any mistakes in implementing the model in Simulink I was thinkin of using a S-function block and using the code directly as it is. I have however not worked with S-function before. do you have any tips that can help me get started, something like good tutorials or examples?
