How I can perform a canny edge detection on this image ? It can be used for hand gesture recognition in real time or is just for images

@Image Analyst I have seen your work and other response and are very useful , I'm doing my final project at university based on sign language in hand gesture recognition and I'm new to this field can you please share some tips . I will really appreciate . Thank you so much !
