Trouble Using Close Function

Writing a program where the close function will not work in a uimenu.

fig = figure;
File = uimenu(fig,'Label','File');
Exitbutton = uimenu(File,'Label','Exit','Callback',@Exit);
*end *
*function Exit(hObj,event)*
fig = get(hObj,'Parent');
close(fig)
*end *
