'x10^5' show up in MATLAB plots

Why is 'x10^5' show up in MATLAB plots once I change 'datenum' to actual dates using 'datetick'. In the same manner the datenum and the julian time I converted appear overlapped . here is part of the code
plotyy(times,Hm11,times,Y11);
datetick('x','dd/mm/yy','keepticks');
set(gca,'XMinorTick','on');

There is a x-axis for each y-axis so you need to change the formatting on both of them not just the current one (gca)
[AX,H1,H2] = plotyy(times,Hm11,times,Y11);
datetick('x','dd/mm/yy','keepticks');
axes(AX(2))
datetick('x','dd/mm/yy','keepticks');
