There is an infinite number of formulas, which produce a certain signal. The existence of noise increases the difficulty of the job.
If you assume, that the signal is created by a samll set of sine waves, a fourier analysis is a simple solution. But you do need such simplifying assumptions. Starting with only "having an alarm sound" is not sufficient.
