Error while using MATLAB engine and C++

I am using the MATLAB engine in my C++ code and creating an executable with the C++ code. However when I run the executable I am getting this error every once in a while:

A primary message table for module 77 was already registered with a different collection of error messages.Severe: The program 'C:\restOfExecutablePath: Native' has exited with code 1 (0x1).

Does anyone know why this might be happening?

This error occurs because you use engopen() and engclose() multiple times.
