Error Permission access denied

I am working on a windows 8 64 bit machine with matlab r2012a,when i use save or xlswrite command,it returns error
Permission access denied cant save file
Kindly tell how to retify it please

Are you sure you don't already have the file open in Excel? If so, it won't let you save it while it's already open. I know starting with Windows 7 there are a lot of folders that you cannot save to any longer, such as anything under the Program Files folder, and sometimes others that you wouldn't think should have such a restriction, like C:\Users and C:\ProgramData, though C:\Users\nkumar\Documents would be allowable.

You are trying to write into a directory you do not have permission for. You can get that if you are trying to save under the MATLAB installation directory instead of into your own directory.
