Detecting multiple tumors from an mri image, given an image with more than one tumor, how do I detect all of them at the same time?

I currently have implemented an alogrithm that dtects only one single tumor in an image.. by preprocessing the image, then thresholding and segmenting then morphological operations on the image..but I have been unable to detect more than one tumor, how do I go about it?

Detect the tumor, remove it from the image, run the method again on the new image until there are no more tumors.
