When I enter the File Installation Key or select my license and confirm my installation settings, I receive an error that MATLAB is unable to locate the required installation files, or I see that some of my products are missing.
How do I fix this issue?
In MATLAB R2014a and earlier, the error is "There are no products available to install from this location."

This error can be caused by any of the following issues:
Note: If you are running the MathWorks Installer to install MATLAB or other MathWorks products with an internet connection but receive an unable to connect error, please see the following link.
You have not downloaded any or all of the correct installation files
To perform an offline installation using the File Installation Key, you are required to obtain the installation files prior to installation. The MathWorks Installer downloaded from our website, e.g. matlab_R2020b_win64.exe, are not the installation files; the installation files are obtained by downloading the ISO (License Administrators only) or by downloading the installation files via the MathWorks Installer on an online machine. For instructions on obtaining the installation files, please refer to the following article:
You are not using the correct File Installation Key
If you are installing MATLAB or other MathWorks products offline with the File Installation Key, and the products are missing, make sure you have the correct File Installation Key. For instructions on obtaining a new File Installation Key, see this related article:
If you have the correct files and installation codes and the installer still does not list the product(s), please contact Installation support. You can contact Customer Service and Installation Support via the MathWorks website here:

I have been trying to install matlab for going on 2 weeks now. I did all this and it still doesn't work! Now it say there is an issue with the license associated with this machine, sends me to another of these q&a and I still can't get anything to work.

Ok, thank you. Anyway, I re-downloaded directly from the matlab page (instead of university) and now it works.

Hi Maria,
The error you are experiencing is usually caused by non-ASCII characters in your path/username. I have attached a link below that explains this error and how to resolve it in more detail.

On Windows, you may need to run the MATLAB Installer as Administrator (right-click on the Installer and choose 'Run as Administrator') to not get this error.

Can someone help me?
I am installing an update (R2017b, update 4) but it also pops up this fetal error.
My OS is Linux, I am not sure if I launch the update by a correct command. I cannot launch it by entering the command suggested by MATLAB, but replace ./ with "sudo sh". https://www.mathworks.com/content/dam/mathworks/mathworks-dot-com/support/updates/r2017b/r2017b-updates-install-instructions.pdf
It then asks me the directory Please specify MATLAB installation directory [/usr/local/MATLAB/R2017b]
However, my MATLAB is not installed in usr but another file. Even I place the install file (R2017b_Update_4_glnxa64.sh) in the same file with R2017b, and simply press enter for the directory, the fetal error comes out.
(I am not asked for any installation key or activation key. I am not sure if this should be asked when installing an update)

If you purchased directly from Mathworks then your license information should have been emailed to you. Otherwise, check with your institution.

Windows Error 5 is a permission error: for some reason you do not have permission to execute the setup.exe file.
If you are using a work or university computer, then sometimes workplaces put in policies that prohibit downloaded files from being executed.

You need to contact your license administrator to obtain the software.
Sometimes in order to reduce network traffic, license administrators download a copy of the software and then make it available for local use.
