Advantages of Virtual MATLAB Training

Kyle Heintz, MathWorks

For almost 20 years, MathWorks has been educating customers across the globe through our instructor-led online training platform. As the world adjusts to an increasingly online environment, our goal is to provide the same experience to trainees online as in the classroom.

This video provides an overview of our instructor-led online training platform and describes how we provide you with an interactive, hands-on learning environment for advancing your skills in MATLAB® and Simulink® from the comfort of your own home.

Have you considered taking your training online? In this video, you will see how MathWorks creates an effective learning environment online using a set of world class tools. But first, what should you expect with any instructor-led training from MathWorks? Knowledgeable instructors who engage the class in discussion, the ability to ask questions and get help when you're stuck, hands-on practice with the latest software, and course material to go along with the lesson. Our instructor-led online training platform has been built to closely mirror the classroom training experience.

To attend our online training classes, you will need a computer with two displays, a headset with microphone, and access to high-speed internet. The Webex training session is where most class interaction takes place. Expect for the Webex application to occupy one of your monitors. For those with download restrictions, Webex provides an option to join the session by browser. Join the audio conference using your phone or your computer. The Call Me feature makes it easy.

There are other ways to interact with the instructor besides talking. You can send a message in the chat panel, raise your hand if you have a question, or send generic feedback, like Yes, No, or Slow Down. In addition, the instructor can send a set of questions for the class to answer.

Since most of your time will be spent working in MATLAB and Simulink, you will have access to your own virtual machine with the software already installed. ReadyTech Axis manages the virtual computer lab in the cloud while the machines are running on Azure. The virtual lab provides an important function. If you need more one-on-one guidance, the instructor can view your MATLAB screen and, if necessary, take control. Lastly, you will access your course manual digitally through Kortext. The eMaterials can be viewed online or downloaded locally using the Kortext app.

With instructor-led online training from MathWorks, you have access to the same resources as in the classroom. And to prepare you for class, we help test your access ahead of time to ensure you have a seamless experience on class day. Visit our training website to see a list of all available online courses. You can register for classes here or contact us for more information about private or customized trainings. See you in class.
