Power calculations in the dq0 reference frame?

3 views (last 30 days)
I noticed simulink offers two forms of the dq0 transform:
  1. Rotating frame aligned with A axis at t = 0
  2. Rotating frame aligned 90 degrees behind A axis
The version that I am used to seeing in textbooks is form number 1. But simulink states that form 2 should be used Simscape power systems.
When calculating power in the dq0 reference frame. Does the choice of which form you opt to use have an impact on power calculated in the dq0 reference frame? i.e. magnitude and direction of the power?

Hey Chanditha, changing the dq0 reference frame will result in no change in any power calculation--given you use the same reference frame throughout your model. Which reference frame you choose is largely up to personal preference, but make sure you use the same reference frame everywhere.
