Weird Text in Matlab install

For some reason my MATLAB install looks like this.

Even the uninstaller has this very wonky text all over, so when I thought about uninstalling and reinstalling MATLAB I realised that'd be a pain as well. But i managed to do that by running the uninstaller non interactively, providing options in the configuration file. But even after reinstalling this problem is still not resolved. I don't have any idea about how to proceed with trying to fix this, so any help would be appreciated.

Also if it helps I am facing the same issue with Android Studio on this machine, so maybe the problem might arise from something that these applications have in common. And in parts of the application where I can select this broken text, when I paste it into notepad the text renders normally.
