Structural and Thermal Analysis with MATLAB
Overview
Learn how to perform structural and thermal analysis using the finite element method in MATLAB. Using a few lines of code you can analyze how mechanical components behave under loading, vibration and other physical effects including solving linear static, modal and transient analysis problems.
You will learn how MATLAB can be used to create and share custom Apps which use finite element analysis and how to perform parameter sweeps by running multiple models in parallel.
This webinar will demonstrate the workflow for 3D thermal and structural mechanics including:
- Importing geometry from STL
- Meshing the geometry
- Applying material properties, boundary and Initial conditions
- Solving and Visualizing the results
- Leveraging other MATLAB products for parallelization and deployment
About the Presenter
Sergio E. Obando Quintero is an Application Engineer at MathWorks. He holds a B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell where he worked as a research assistant at the Structural Dynamics and Acoustic Systems Laboratory specializing in Modal Analysis and Vibrations. Sergio's research was on the validation of reduced order models for the prediction of nonlinear forced response problems where he used MATLAB to develop and solve FEA models. Sergio also holds a M.S. in Applied Mathematics from WPI and a B.S. in Mathematics from Worcester State College. Currently, his areas of interest include operational and experimental modal analysis, parallel computing, numerical methods, and mathematical modeling among others.
