Prototyping SoC-based Motor Controllers with MATLAB and Simulink
Ben Jeppesen, Altera
Join this webinar as engineers from MathWorks and Intel show you how to use MATLAB and Simulink to model, simulate, and prototype control systems on Intel Cyclone V SoC devices.
Many designers are adopting SoC devices to integrate processor and FPGA functions on a single device, reducing system power, cost, and board size. The complexity implementing algorithms on SoCs, however, creates a challenge for algorithm developers, software developers and hardware designers.
During our presentation, engineers from MathWorks and Intel will demonstrate how to:
- Model and simulate motor control systems to evaluate controller designs before testing in hardware.
- Generate code to program control algorithms into an Intel Cyclone V SoC.
- Use a new MathWorks IP core generation workflow to create cores that implement high-speed I/O processing and offload math-intensive tasks to the FPGA fabric.
- Download programming to an Intel Cyclone V SoC Development Kit and prototype on a single-axis motor control kit.
- Integrate generated HDL code with Intel’s Drive-on-Chip reference design.
