Indian Space Research Organization Simulates Hybrid Concatenated Convolutional Code for Deep-Space Missions

Dr. Deepak Mishra, Indian Space Research Organization

In satellite communication, deep-space missions are the most challenging because the system has to work at very low Eb/N0. Concatenated codes are the ideal choice for such deep-space missions. ISRO is planning several deep-space missions to study and detail the understanding of our own universe. ISRO uses the hybrid concatenated convolutional code structure to select the suitable candidate for their future deep-space missions. Dr. Deepak Mishra discusses the benefits of using using Simulink® for complete simulation and hardware verification using FPGA-in-the-loop.

Note: Simulink Verification and Validation transitioned to Simulink Check, Simulink Coverage, and Requirements Toolbox in R2017b.
